(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington woman was arrested Tuesday after police say she slashed her boyfriend with a box cutter.
Bloomington police arrested 34-year-old Jacqueline Watrous on felony charges for domestic battery while armed with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon.
Police were called at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday to the apartment in the 800 block of East Miller Drive after a 36-year-old man reported he had been stabbed several times.
According to Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams, both Watrous and the male live at the apartment.
When police arrived Watrous answered the door and police could see her boyfriend standing behind her with visible wounds to his torso and upper body.
The male was taken to IU Bloomington Hospital and later released.
Watrous told police she was defending herself after her boyfriend attempted to sexually assault her, but then changed her story saying they got into a fight over him refusing to drive her home earlier in the day.
The male told police that the two had been fighting recently over a variety of issues, but on that night when he got into bed she began attacking him.
He was able to escape and barricade himself in a bathroom and called 911.
