About the documentary:
During his lifetime (1849-1916), James Whitcomb Riley's poetry was immensely popular. Known as the "Hoosier poet," the Greenfield, Ind., native authored nearly 1,000 poems, including his famous dialect works "Little Orphant Annie" and "The Raggedy Man." Over 100 years after his death, Riley is still one of the most recognized literary figures from Indiana. James Whitcomb Riley: Hoosier Poet provides insight into Riley's life and writing and why his literary influence endures today. The documentary premieres this August on WTIU.
