Firefighters Battle Field Fires

(UNDATED) - Area volunteer firefighters battled several field and brush fires on Sunday.

Firefighters stress residents should use caution if burning within the next few days due to dryness and wind conditions.

Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department battled a brush fire in the 910 block of Vinegar Hill Road. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 1:34 p.m. Officials say about an acre burned. They were on the scene until 2:33 p.m.

At 2:29 p.m. Sunday, Huron, Williams and Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to a controlled burn that had gotten out of control and set a field on fire in the 820 block of Kings Ridge Road. Firefighters were on the scene until 3:35 p.m.

Orange County Rural District 2 was called to a field fire in the 6300 block of County Road 425 North at 1:46 p.m. Sunday. Units arrived to find a fairly good size area burned. Firefighters say the fire was 99 percent contained. Units were on scene for about 1.5 hours checking hot spots.

No injuries were reported at any of the fires.
