(BLOOMINGTON) - An Indiana University student was arrested after police stated he had been harassing an acquaintance via email for months.
Bloomington Police arrested 46-year-old Zuheir Khlaif on a charge of stalking on Tuesday after they were able to track down IP addresses associated with the emails and traced them to Khlaif.
According to Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams the investigation began after police received a complaint in December from a woman who reported she was being harassed by an anonymous emails.
Kellams says the emails were sexual in nature and she received them from November through January. The emails were sent from several email addresses, but appeared to have come from the same person, who knew personal information about the woman.
Khlaif denied stalking the woman, but when presented with the evidence he had sent the emails, he refused to speak to police and requested an attorney.
