(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested after police stopped him on a traffic violation and found meth.
Mitchell Police stopped 30-year-old Andrew Lawler on Sunday night after the officer witnessed him run a stop sign on Dixie Highway.
During the traffic stop, the officer discovered Lawler was driving on a suspended driver's license.
Lawler was arrested.
During an inventory of the vehicle, police discovered a baggie with a crystal substance that tested positive for meth. They also found a syringe in the vehicle.
Lawler is facing Level 6 felony charges of possession of meth and unlawful possession of a syringe and cited for driving with a suspended driver's license, disregarding a stop sign.
He is being held in the Lawrence County Jail on a $7,500 surety, or $755 cash bond.
On Tuesday, a preliminary plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf and he was appointed a public defender. A pretrial conference is scheduled for May 18th.
