(ORLEANS) - Entries are now being accepted for the 49th annual Orleans Dogwood Festival Queen Contest and Junior Miss competition.
The Queen Contest sponsored by the Orleans Chamber of Commerce has traditionally served as the official opening ceremony for the town's trademark festival and this year the tradition continues. The contest will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Orleans Elementary School.
Jr. Miss Contestants must be in grades 7-8 and Queen Candidates must be in grades 9-12. Deadline to enter the Queen Contest is April 1.
Contestant can bring forms to the Orleans Town Hall or mail them to event chairperson Ashley Knight at 364 East Wilson Street Orleans or bring to the Queen kickoff event.
The kick off event for the Queen Contestants will be Sunday, April 1 at the Orleans Unity Hall behind Orleans Christian Church at 2 p.m.
All young ladies planning to participate in the Queen Contest and parents are welcome to attend. Forms can be turned in this day to Ashley Knight.
