(ORLEANS) - The Annual Dogwood Talent Show is among the entertainment highlights tonight beginning at 7:30 p.m. on the Main Stage.
The Honky Tonk Heroes take the stage Friday at 7 p.m.
Traveling just down the road from their Lawrence County home, the band is lead by Orleans High School teacher Sean Steele. He is joined by a few of his friends, including Shayne Koons, lead guitar, Craig Koons, bass, Roz Turner, fiddle, Brad Abel drums, and Steele on vocals and rhythm guitar.
The band is a cover band, playing what is sometimes referred to as "Outlaw Country," featuring country artists such as Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. The band also covers traditional artists, George Jones, Hank Williams and Buck Owens.
As a new addition to the Orleans Dogwood Festival live entertainment lineup this year rising young Hoosier musician Jordan Bennett will be among the performers on the festival's Main Street Stage.
Bennett will perform a free lunchtime concert for festival goers on Parade Day, Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
Jordan who is a new singer/songwriter and acoustic act desires to impact others through his music by sharing events and situations that has happened in his own life. Bennett hopes to show people that even through tough times that there is a God that loves them. Jordan hails from Lafayette, but travels around the United States performing at festivals, churches radio stations and coffee houses throughout the year.
Sweet Water Band will entertain the crowd immediately following the Parade on Saturday. The band plays a wide variety of cover songs including contemporary, new and traditional country, classic rock and old-time rock and roll. They have performed at countless fairs and festivals, anniversaries, wedding, reunions and dances.
All entertainment is slated for the main street stage in historic Congress Square downtown, but subject to be moved and/or cancelled due to weather circumstances. The Main Stage entertainment may be moved to Orleans Elementary gym, SR 337 E in the event of bad weather.
