AT&T Upgrades Wireless Network In Greene County

Last updated on Friday, April 7, 2017

(SWITZ CITY) - AT&T has upgraded its wireless network in Switz City, and earlier in 2016 in several other Greene County areas.

Improvements include adding greater capacity and speeds to cell towers in these areas.

Areas in Greene County with upgrades during the past year include Bloomfield, Jasonville, Linton, Scotland and Solsberry.

These additional capacity upgrades are like adding more lanes to a highway carrying traffic from a customer's device to the cell tower, resulting in faster speeds and more reliable service.

"Quicker connections can only mean positive things for these communities in Greene County," said State Rep. Jeff Ellington. "Whether it's economic developers, business leaders or public safety officials, our citizens all rely on fast wireless service. It's great to see this latest investment by AT&T in our corner of the state."

"Our Indiana employees are focused on bringing a better mobile experience to Greene County and across the state. Our investment in the local wireless network is one way we're accomplishing that," said Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana.

We're seeing increased data usage across our mobile network, especially at big events. In fact, data on our mobile network has increased about 250,000% since 2007, and the majority of that traffic is video.

AT&T has invested nearly $2 billion in its wireless and wireline networks in Indiana between 2013 through 2015. This drives upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.

We constantly invest in our network to give customers the high-quality services they need to stay connected. This helps customers get the best possible experience over the AT&T network, whether at home, at work or on the go.
