(FAYETTEVILLE) - A Bedford woman was injured when she crashed her vehicle on in the 160 block of Fayetteville Owen Road around 5:11 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 20-year-old Alyssa Roark was traveling north on Fayetteville Owen Road. She was traveling at an unsafe speed when she entered a curve and her 2002 Volkswagen Jetta ran partially off the east side of the road.
Roark then lost control and ran off the west side of the road striking a tree on the driver's side of the vehicle. The air bags were deployed during the crash.
Police say she was unconscious and suffered head injuries.
An IU Health Hospital ambulance, Bedford Fire Department extrication, Indian Creek first responders and Stat Fight medical helicopter responded.
Roark was trapped inside the car and had to be freed from the wreckage. She was then taken by medical helicopter to a Louisville hospital.
Police say it is unknown if Roark was wearing her seat belt.
