(BEDFORD) - Two volunteers were recognized at the White River Humane Society’s annual Bone Appetit event last week.
Buddy Hendricks, WRHS board president, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award is given to someone who has dedicated their life to helping the homeless animals of Lawrence County and the shelter.
Also recognized was 11-year-old Conner Blackwell of Mitchell.
For his last three birthdays, Blackwell has asked for no gifts for himself but for donations for the humane society.
The Bone Appetit dinner and auction raised $24,000 for the White River Humane Society. The event was attended by 420 people.
