(BEDFORD) - Former Perry Volunteer firefighter Adam Selbee had agreed to plead guilty to four counts of arson and three counts of criminal mischief on Thursday, but his court hearing was continued after a request from his public defender.
The change of plea hearing is now set for May 25th at 1 p.m. in Lawrence County Superior Court II with Judge William Sleve presiding.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Selbee admitted on July 19, 2016 that he walked to the 1936 Springville gymnasium with a cup of gasoline, poured that gasoline in the kitchen area and set the gasoline on fire.
Police say 19-year-old Selbee admitted to setting three vacant structure fires including Duane Connaughton's home and three hay bale fires, all which occurred in Perry Township.
Officers say Selbee was either the first firefighter to arrive on the scene or the reporting source for the fires.
