(SHOALS) - The Martin County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police teamed together to head up a drug investigation that put a Shoals couple behind bars.
On Monday, Senior Trooper Jarrod Lents and Martin County Sheriff Travis Roush began a drug investigation in which they attempted to catch a Shoals man dealing methamphetamine. Roush and Lents organized a controlled buy in which they utilized resources to attempt to purchase drugs from 32-year-old Brandon Stone of Shoals.
During the drug deal, Stone was not able to complete the transaction but would have methamphetamine to finish the deal later in the evening. With the recorded conversations, charges were filed against Stone for conspiring to deal methamphetamine.
Since Stone was actively on probation for possessing methamphetamine, a probation search order was issued by the Martin County Circuit Court. Roush, Lents, and other Martin County deputies arrested Stone and searched the home.
Brandon Stone is facing charges of dealing meth, maintaining a common nuisance, two counts of neglect of a dependent, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
Marijuana, a Schedule IV controlled substance, and Stone's two small children were found in the residence.
41-year-old Stacy Stone was arrested and charged with maintaining a common nuisance, two counts of neglect of a dependent, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
The children were placed into the care of the Department of Child Services.
Both Brandon and Stacy were transported to the Martin County Jail without incident.
Sheriff Roush and Senior Trooper Lents ask that Martin County residents with information about drug or suspicious activity continue to help law enforcement. Concerned citizens can contact Sheriff Roush by calling the jail at (812) 247-3726, or Senior Trooper Lents by calling the State Police Post at (812) 482-1441.
