(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Health Department is offering vouchers for free tire disposal at the Lawrence County Solid Waste District’s transfer station at 274 County Complex Road.
"We received some grant money from CDC for Zika Preparedness and hoped to not only be able to eliminate mosquito breeding sites that waste tires cause, but also help clean up some of the county at the same time," says Brenda Cummins, REHS of the Health Department. "The Lawrence County Solid Waste District Transfer Station, Ron Walker and his staff are working with us to implement the program and we greatly appreciate their partnership. "
Vouchers must be picked up at the Lawrence County Health Department office at 2419 Mitchell Road during regular office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Vouchers are limited to Lawrence County residents and must be used by June 1.
Vouchers are good for up to $15 worth of tire disposal per household.
