(BEDFORD) - A Bedford teen was arrested Friday afternoon after school officials found a knife, socks filled with rocks and other heavy materials in addition to three screwdrivers in his locker.
Bedford Police arrested 13-year-old Kadden Shifflet at 1:50 p.m.
"He had made several threats to other students, teachers and officers," says Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley. "We contacted probation and the teen was transported to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of having a knife on school property and intimidation."
Chief Parsley says school officials began their investigation after they received information about the alleged threats.
"They searched his backpack and locker before we arrived on the scene and found the knife, three screwdrivers and several socks filled with lug nuts and other heavy objects. The socks had been tied off to be used as sap."
A sap can deliver a tremendously devastating punch with even a relatively small amount of applied force.
