(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested Friday after a domestic fight over how to care for an infant.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to a home in the 3320 block of Michael Avenue at 7:20 p.m. after a report of a domestic fight that turned violent. When police arrived they were met by a man with visible injuries.
"The man had cuts to his face and a bloody nose," Chief Parsley says. "He told officers he had been battered by a man who was inside the residence."
When officers entered the home they found 33-year-old Kenneth Smith and two females.
According to police, Smith told police he and his wife got into an argument over feeding their 7-day-old infant.
"She had called relatives and that is when Mr. Smith head butted the male causing his nose to bleed," Chief Parsley added.
Smith was arrested on a charge of domestic battery in the presence of a child under the age of 14.
Police found the infant asleep in its swing.
The Department of Child services was alerted.
