(BEDFORD) - Do you sometimes think that you would like to get outdoors for some fresh air and exercise during lunch but never take the time? Would you love to meet up with others who feel the same way? Join Purdue Extension-Lawrence County staff to celebrate National Walking Day on Tuesday, April 4.
Purdue Extension-Lawrence County is hosting a free, easy, 30-minute walk on the Milwaukee Trail, beginning at 12:15 p.m.
"Purdue Extension's programs are all connected to helping people improve their lives and livelihoods, and starting with the health of the individual is crucial to doing that," says Katie Zuber, health and human sciences educator for Purdue Extension-Lawrence County. "Research tells us that regular physical activity helps the body function better - it wards off heart disease, diabetes, & depression, and it is a big factor in weight loss."
Lesley Lodmell, 4-H youth development educator, notes, "Studies show that 2 out of 3 youth today are considered inactive. We can't wait to meet up with folks who are ready to kickstart their healthy lifestyles!"
Individuals and groups are welcome. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Meet at U Street Trailhead of the Milwaukee Trail in Bedford.
