(BEDFORD) - An Indiana pair were jailed on cocaine possession Thursday after a traffic stop by a Jasper District trooper.
At 1:57 p.m. Thursday, Trooper Jarrod Lents was traveling southbound on State Road 37, north of US 50, when he observed a Chevrolet Malibu unsafely move from the right lane to the left in front of another vehicle. With his attention on the Chevrolet, Lents then noticed that the license plate was expired.
Lents pulled over the Chevrolet and while speaking with the driver, 41-year-old Carrie Patrick of Fortville, and passenger, 40-year-old Jesse Brown of Indianapolis, he could smell the odor of burnt marijuana in the vehicle.
Lents and a Lawrence County deputy searched the Chevrolet and found marijuana roaches, a baggie containing marijuana, a small baggie that contained cocaine, and a small smoking device with cocaine residue on it.
Patrick and Brown were both arrested on charges of possessing cocaine, marijuana, and maintaining a common nuisance and taken to the Lawrence County Jail.
