(WESTVILLE) - Authorities say an inmate they believed had escaped from a northern Indiana prison was captured on Saturday.
Westville Correctional Facility Superintendent Mark Sevier says 35-year-old Orville Morris of Marengo never actually got out of the facility. Officials began searching for Morris on Friday.
Staff members heard a noise coming from the ceiling while they were re-searching the area and found Morris hiding on a ledge along the building's heating and air-conditioning ductwork of the prison's pallet shop. They previously believed he may have escaped on a truck, or was hiding somewhere on the 100 acres that make up the prison grounds.
Morris was serving prison sentences for burglary convictions and had been scheduled for release in January 2019 from the prison about 25 miles east of Gary.
