(SPRINGVILLE) - Four volunteer fire departments battled a pole barn fire on North Pike Road on Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters from Marshall, Oolitic, Indian Creek and Perry VFDs were alerted to the blaze at 12:12 p.m. at 1380 North Pike Road.
Tabernacle of Praise Emergency Services and an IU Health Hospital ambulance also responded to the scene.
The barn is owned by Michael and Kelly Clark. A neighbor, Tony Young, spotted the blaze and dialed 911.
The garage was used for a place for the family to gather for events, like watching football games.
Firefighters reported the fire was under control at 1:02 p.m. Firefighters remained on the scene a little longer to hit hot spots and helped the family salvage as much from the building as possible
A State Fire Marshal will be on the scene Monday to investigated the cause of the blaze that firefighters believed originated in the ceiling area.
