(HARDINSBURG) - A Hardinsburg man is in jail after police say he hit his young stepchildren with a belt leaving marks.
Indiana State Police arrested 22-year-old Devin Wilson, on two counts of battery on child less than 14 years of age causing serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony.
On April 12, Trooper Brock Werne began assisting the Indiana Child Protective Services with an investigation involving a five-year-old girl, who had allegedly been struck with a belt.
Through the course of the investigation, Werne learned that the child's stepfather, Wilson, had not only struck the five-year-old, but also struck his 19-month-old stepdaughter with a belt, hard enough to leave markings on her back side.
After turning the case over to the Orange County Prosecutor's Office on May 9th, a warrant for Wilson was issued on May 22nd.
Werne and Trooper Steven Sexton arrested Wilson Thursday outside the Orange County Courthouse without incident.
He was transported to the Orange County Jail where he is being held on a $300,000 cash bond.
