(BEDFORD) - Bedford City officials have pushed back the construction of the roundabout at Lincoln Avenue and John Williams Boulevard.
The project was slated to begin this summer and has been postponed until 2018.
According to Bedford Street Commissioner Dan Kirk, the engineering firm of Bledsoe Riggert Cooper James is working on the roundabout's final design, which should be completed in August of this year.
When the final design is completed, the project will be released for bidding starting on May 15 at a Board of Works meeting.
Once construction begins, it will take between three to six months to complete.
Last August, The city received $528,000 from the Indiana Department of Transportation to make road improvements through the state's Community Crossings matching grant funds and will use an additional $750,000 received from the state in March from Local Option Income Tax.
Once the roundabout is complete Mayor Shawna Girgis says the city will host a public meeting to explain to motorists how to maneuver through the roundabout.
