(UNDATED) - Children and parents throughout the state will be biking and walking to school today as part of National Bike to School Day.
The Indiana Safe Routes to School Partnership - which works to increase the number of children safely walking and biking to school throughout the state - and Health by Design are encouraging schools and parents statewide to take part.
"Expect to see more students and adults walking and biking near schools," said Allan Henderson, Health by Design's Safe Routes to School program manager. "Bike to School Day is an opportunity to increase the visibility of bicycling, remind everyone to share the road and emphasize the benefits of healthy transportation options. We loving seeing entire communities - school staff, public officials, parent teacher organizations, law enforcement and community leaders - participate."
