(BLOOMINGTON) - Seven women will be honored with the 2017 Women Excel Bloomington (WEB) award on May 24th.
These women were selected to be honorees based on their community engagement, their mentorship experience and their role as a leader in the community according to Jim Inman, the Director of Marketing and Communication for the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce.
"Nearly 40 nominations were received, including some nominations for the same individual."
On May 24th the women will be celebrated during the Women Excel Bloomington Luncheon at the IU Henke Hall of Champions from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Inman said, "The WEB Awards will offer a buffet luncheon, and our honorees will be highlighted with a special video sharing their individual stories. IU Women's Basketball Coach Teri Moren will be the keynote speaker as well, sharing about her role as a coach and leader to young women, and the importance of community engagement and mentorship."
The following seven women were selected to receive a 2017 Women Excel Bloomington award:
• Laura Clapper, Associate Instructor and PhD Candidate in Dept. of English, Indiana University (not pictured)
• Tania Daffron, Battalion Chief of Training, City of Bloomington Fire Department
• Debbie Lemon, Secretary, Board of Trustees, Indiana University
• Rev. Mary Ann Macklin, Senior Minister, Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington
• Susan Rinne, Chief Executive Officer, LIFEDesigns
• Jaimie Schwartzman, Co-Owner, BuffaLouie's
• Susan Weir, Vice President, First American Trust
