(SPENCER) - AT&T is now giving local customers faster mobile internet speeds. We launched our 4G LTE near Spencer and Freedom along Highway 231.
We also added capacity to the site, which is like adding more lanes to a highway carrying traffic from a customer's device to the cell tower, resulting in faster speeds and more reliable service.
Other Owen County network upgrades in the past year include enhancing 2 additional cell towers with extra 4G LTE capacity. These include locations near Spencer in the Rocky Hill Road and Livingstone Lane area and close to the state park northeast of town.
Here's how 4G LTE benefits you:
"This is great news for our communities, and with recent actions taken at the Statehouse, it's potentially just the start," said State Sen. Eric Bassler. "I was proud to support legislation this session which will boost communications companies' efforts to bring additional new technology investments to our state."

"We want our customers to enjoy all the benefits of 4G LTE," said Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana. "We're providing stronger connections so customers can get the most out of their mobile devices - whether they're streaming videos, posting to social media or calling and texting."
AT&T has invested nearly $1.7 billion in its wireless and wireline networks in Indiana between 2014 through 2016. This drives upgrades to reliability, coverage, speed and performance for residents and business customers.
