(BEDFORD) - A Bloomington man was arrested Thursday morning on battery charges after he injured a pregnant woman and a child in August.
Bedford Police arrested 27-year-old Joshua LaPointe of Bloomington on a warrant charging him with domestic battery, battery resulting in bodily injury to a pregnant woman and battery resulting in bodily injury to a person under the age of 14.
According to a Lawrence county Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, on August 9, 2016 Bedford Police officers were called to an apartment on Ludlow Drive after a report of a domestic fight.
Police spoke to a pregnant woman who accused LaPointe, her boyfriend, of punching her on the side of the head after an argument.
The woman's 4-year-old son attempted to stop LaPointe from hurting his mother and suffered a laceration to his right armpit after LaPointe either hit the child or flipped a table onto him.
During the altercation LaPointe ran from the apartment after the woman began screaming for help
LaPointe is being held on a $20,000 bond with 10 percent allowed.
