Bedford Public Library Summer Discovery Festival Is Today

(BEDFORD) - One of the biggest free family events of the summer is today.
The Bedford Public Library Summer Discovery Festival is today from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Library parking lot.
Enjoy a bounce house, snow cones, popcorn, music, a fire truck to climb in, fun games and activities - and it's all provided at no charge.
It's fun for the whole family.
June Events at Bedford Public Library:
- June and July: See Bedford Public Library staff at Summer Meals on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Oolitic Middle School and Mondays and Thursdays at Bedford Middle School.
- Saturday, June 3: Wonder Woman Day at Bedford Public Library. Enjoy Wonder Woman Crafts and take your photo with a life-size cutout of Wonder Woman.
- Tuesday, June 6: Nature Prints: Make Your Own for ages 6-12 at 5:30 p.m. at Bedford Public Library. Explore nature then make a print using clay and natural materials.
- Thursday, June 8: Teen Animanga meets at 4 p.m. at Bedford Public Library for all teens interested in manga, anime, and all things Japanese.
- Saturday, June 10: Play a game with Bedford Public Library staff at Safe Night at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, 6-9 p.m. All kinds of free fun.
- Tuesday, June 13: Preschool Discovery: Construction meets at 10 a.m. at Bedford Public Library. Preschoolers enjoy stories, songs, and special activities.
- Tuesday, June 13: Otaku Hour at 5 p.m. at Bedford Public Library for ages 18+. Talk about anime, manga, and all things Japanese.
- Wednesday, June 14: Whip Up a Moon Crater at 2 p.m. for ages 6-12 at Bedford Public Library. Make a moon crater and do experiments. This is our first NASA@ My Library event.
- Thursday, June 15: Create a Cat Tent, 3 p.m. at Bedford Public Library for adults, teens and older children. Bring an adult size T-shirt. Learn to make a fun house for your cat.
- Thursday, June 15: Create with a 3D Pen at Bedford Public Library. Ages 10 and up can drop in from 4-6:30 p.m. to discover what they can create with a 3D pen.
- Saturday, June 17: Play a game with Bedford Public Library staff at Get Outdoors Day at Murray Forest Park from 10-2 p.m. Free lunch for the kids from 11-1 p.m. Free games, fun.
- Monday, June 19: Breakout: Attack of the Locks for grades 3-5 at 6 p.m. at Bedford Public Library Can you solve the clues to save the galaxy and break out of the locked room? Registration required.
- Tuesday, June 20: Active Play and Learn: Construction, 10a Preschoolers will enjoy active play time with blocks and other children at Bedford Public Library.
- Tuesday, June 20: 3D Makers: The Basics for ages 10-18, 4 p.m. Learn to use a 3D printer. Program is held at Stonegate Arts & Education Center, 405 I St. Registration required.
- Wednesday, June 21: Free Device Help: Tech Drop-in is provided from 2-4 p.m. at Bedford Public Library for adults who want help downloading library materials to their mobile devices.
- Thursday, June 22: Free Device Help: Tech Drop-in is provided from 5-7 p.m. at Bedford Public Library for adults who want help downloading library materials to their mobile devices.
- Thursday, June 22: Pop-up Art for ages 9-12 at 5:30 p.m. at Bedford Public Library Children will learn how to make their drawings pop off the page. Please register.
- Monday, June 26: Sticker Painting! for adults, teens, and children 9 and up, at 6 p.m. at Bedford Public Library. Paint with stickers to make beautiful art. It's easy. Registration required.
- Tuesday, June 27: Bedford Public Library presents Silly Safari at Parkview Intermediate Gym at 3 p.m. See reptiles, mammals, birds, and bugs! Fantastic live animal presentation for all ages. No charge.
- Wednesday, June 28: Bedford Public Library presents BrainSTEM maker camp from 9-12 a.m. for children in grades 3,4, and 5. Snack and lunch provided. No charge. Registration required.
- Thursday, June 29: Bedford Public Library presents BrainSTEM maker camp from 9-12 a.m. for children in grades 6-8. Snack and lunch provided. No charge. Registration required.
Upcoming Programs:
- Monday, July 10: All About Jane: Remembering Jane Austen on the 200th Anniversary of Her Death, 6 p.m. at Bedford Public Library. Adults will enjoy tea and talk with a presenter dressed in Regency attire.
- Tuesday, August 15: Solar Eclipse Get Ready Event from 4-6 p.m. at Bedford Public Library. Get free solar eclipse viewing glasses, activities, crafts, information, fun. Learn how to view the eclipse safely.
- Monday, August 18: Solar Eclipse of the Century Viewing Party, 2 p.m. Enjoy lemonade and camaraderie while you safely watch the eclipse in the Bedford Public Library yard.
