(DAVIESS CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an ATV accident that resulted in an 11-year-old Daviess County boy being air lifted to St. Mary’s Hospital.
The boy was on an ATV being driven by another 11-year-old boy, who failed to yield as he approached a van stopped at the intersection of County Road 775 East and County Road 500 North.
The ATV clipped the back end of the van and flipped on its side, ejecting the boy and another 9-year-old passenger.
The 11-year-old driver suffered minor injuries, the 9-year-old passenger was not injured and the 11-year-old passenger suffered non-life threatening head and leg injuries.
The incident occurred at 4:14 p.m. Monday.
None of the occupants were wearing a helmet or safety gear and road dust is believed to have been a contributing factor, impairing the vision of the operator.
Responding Agencies included the Daviess County Sheriff's Department, Plainville Volunteer Fire Department, Daviess County EMS, St. Mary's Air Evac and Indiana Conservation Officers.
