(JACKSON CO.) - A 59-year-old Jackson County man was run over by his own John Deere tractor on Monday morning and flown to Methodist Hospital for treatment.
Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a farm in the 4400 block of South County Road 400 East in Grassy Fork Township at 9:13 a.m.
When police arrived they found Kevin Hackman had been run over by his own tractor.
Police say Hackman was attempting to start the tractor while standing on the ground. Once the tractor started, it took off.
A friend of Hackman's, Brian Elliott, told police he found Hackman in the yard complaining of leg and chest pain.
Elliott told police the tractor was still running when he arrived. He shut the tractor off and then attended to Hackman until emergency crews arrived.
Jackson County Officer Rob Henley, and Jackson County EMS arrived and began providing medical treatment to Hackman. He was then transported to a helicopter pad at Schneck Medical Center and flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
