(BEDFORD) - A French Lick man was arrested after he punched a resident in the face at the Hauck House on Tuesday night.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to the facility after a 911 call at 7:15 p.m. reporting a fight.
A resident told police that a man he did not know had knocked on his door. When he answered he found a man rambling incoherently.
"The resident couldn't understand what the man was saying and realized he was intoxicated so the resident just shut the door," Chief Parsley says. "He then heard more noises and when he opened the door the man had ripped off the man's name plate on the door."
The resident asked 42-year-old Casey Padgett why he had damaged his property and that is when Padgett allegedly began hitting the resident in the face.
When police arrived, Padgett had fled the area.
A short time later police received a second 911 call reporting Padgett was back at the Hauck House.
When police arrived, residents pointed out Padgett and he was arrested on a charge of battery causing bodily injury.
