(DAVIESS CO.) - The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department issued a news release with more details in the death of 67-year-old David Duncan.
Police were called to the home of 54-year-old Mark Jones at County Road 350 West and 475 South just before 2 p.m. saying a man came to his home and he had shot the intruder.
According to Chief Deputy Gary Allison, 67-year-old David Duncan of Washington went there to retrieve some property after filing for divorce from his wife who was now living with Jones. Police say Duncan's estrange wife of three years was not at the home during the incident.
An argument ensued between the two men and shots were fired. Police say both Jones and Duncan were armed with guns. Duncan was hit in the chest and stomach and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
After search warrants were issued and served from the prosecutor's office, Jones was charged with Duncan's murder.
An autopsy was to be performed Sunday on Duncan. Those results are pending and the investigation continues.
