(BEDFORD) - Big changes are going on at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
In the emergency department there will be new flooring, LED lighting and improved patient safety features, with improved handicapped accessibility like lowering the height of the patient check -in counters in the emergency room so people in wheelchairs can see over the counter.
St. Vincent Chief Operation Officer Matt Balla says the project is a collaboration between the hospital and the St. Vincent Dunn Hospital Foundation and will cost an estimated $250,000. Improvements should be completed by late July.
Two professional office buildings, just south of the hospital, were torn down.
The buildings were once the offices of Dr. Kim Scherschel and Dr. Becky Allmon and the hospital's Home Health Care division. The buildings were constructed in the 1960s and had outlived their purpose.
The two physicians have relocated to the newly renovated and modernized professional office building located south of the hospital which is also home of the Visiting Physicians Clinic.
