(BEDFORD) - A man and woman were arrested Wednesday night after police stopped the vehicle they were in and found drugs.
According to Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, a Lawrence County Police officer stopped a black Pontiac driven by 22-year-old Jacob Mitchell, at West Pleasant Run and Bartlettsville roads because the officer says the driver and his passenger were not wearing seat belts.
"While doing an inventory of the vehicle, which was being towed for lack of insurance and an expired registration, the officers located a glass smoking pipe with a green burnt leafy substance inside it, a small amount of marijuana and rolling papers," says Chief Deputy Shoults.
Both Mitchell, of 1823 Lower Leesville Rd. and his passenger 32-year-old Jennifer Harrell , of 668 Lower Leesville Rd., were arrested for maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Both are being held without bond, because Mitchell had been released from jail on his own recognizance on a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor. Harrell was out on bond from an operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person with a passenger less than 18 years of age and OWI with a blood-alcohol content of 0.15 or greater with a passenger less than 18 years of age.
