(UNDATED) - Retailers are predicting that total back-to-school spending will reach $83.6 billion, a more than 10 percent increase from last year’s $75.8 billion.
According to the National Retail Federation's annual survey, families with children in elementary through high school plan to spend an average of $687 per student, a total of $27.3 billion, and college students and their families plan to spend an average of $970, a total of $54.1 billion.
