(IRELAND) - A helicopter crash Saturday morning injured the pilot.
According to an Indiana State Police report, 42-year-old Keith Windsor of Charlestown was crop-dusting in a helicopter over fields near County Road 450 North, northwest of Ireland around 10:44 a.m. when the aircraft developed a mechanical issue and crashed in a bean field about a quarter of a mile south of 6720 West County Road 450 North.
Troopers say Windsor was able to exit the aircraft before it caught fire.
Windsor was flown by Air Methodist medical helicopter to Saint Vincent Evansville Hospital where he was treated for a broken leg and chest pains.
The helicopter was destroyed.
The scene was secured by the state police until investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration arrive to perform an investigation.
The Dubois County Sheriff's Department, Indiana Conservation Officers, Ireland First Responders, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services as well as Indiana State Police responded to the scene.
