(BLOOMINGTON) - On Tuesday, August 1st, neighborhoods throughout Bloomington are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “34th Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event.
National Night Out is designed to: heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
From 6 to 9 p.m. on August 1st, residents in neighborhoods throughout Bloomington and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Neighborhoods are encouraged to host a variety of events such as block parties, cookouts, contests, and youth activities.
Bloomington Police and The Warehouse are teaming up to host a National Night Out event on August 1st from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Children can play while parents and other community members can talk openly about community issues and concerns.
This event will replace the monthly Coffee with a Cop event for August.
