(HUNTINGBURG) - A Huntingburg woman was arrested on several felony charges after police say she fled from an accident with injuries on Monday afternoon.
Police were called to a crash on US 231 near the intersection with Phoenix Drive at about 5:46 p.m.
While enroute they received a report that one of the motorists involved had fled the crash site.
Police located that vehicle traveling southbound on County Road 400 from 12th Street and stopped 33-year-old Sarah Nicholson. Police say Nicholson's vehicle had heavy damage and learned she had crashed into two vehicles on US 231.
Police say Nicholson was drunk and failed field sobriety tests. Police say her blood-alcohol content was 0.30 percent.
Nicholson was arrested. She then was able to open the back door of the police vehicle and attempted to flee.
Nicholson was taken to Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation and then taken to the Dubois County Jail on felony charges of escape, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction and misdemeanor counts of obstruction of justice and leaving the scene of a crash with injuries.
