(BLOOMINGTON) - Ivy Tech Bloomington is now formally serving Brown County, in addition to its previous service area of Lawrence, Greene, Martin, Monroe, Morgan, and Owen Counties.
The Bloomington campus also acquired Orange County in the College's statewide restructure project, which is ongoing through fall.
"Ivy Tech Bloomington has informally worked for the past year to bring classes to the Brown County Career Resource Center," said Chancellor Jennie Vaughan. "We're pleased to officially serve Brown County and its residents and we look forward to working together with the director of the CRC, Dave Bartlett and the superintendent of schools, Laura Hammack, to further support the educational and workforce needs of the communities there."
"This is a great day for our community," said Dave Bartlett, director of the Brown County Career Resource Center. "We have been very pleased with the support we have already received and I want to thank Ivy Tech Bloomington for embracing our community in this important transition. Our adult and K-12 students will benefit greatly from this new partnership."
In June, Ivy Tech Community College's systems office announced a new organizational structure focused on better serving students and the state's workforce needs by aligning with communities at the campus level. In the new structure, Ivy Tech has 19 campuses and 26 educational sites.
