(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested after Lawrence County Police received a call of a male waving a knife and threatening people at a home in the 1790 block of Yockey Road on Saturday night.
"Due to the nature of the call and the response time for county officers to arrive, three officers from the Mitchell Police Department responded to the scene to assist," says Sheriff Mike Branham. "Two county officers arrived a short time later."
When police arrived at 11:19 p.m., they learned that 29-year-old Ryan Dralle and his wife had been in a domestic fight earlier in the day resulting in her leaving the home.
"When she returned to the residence later to retrieve some of her belongings, Mr. Dralle refused to let her in the residence and was waving a knife while standing at the window," Sheriff Branham added.
After his wife called police, Dralle opened the door to let his wife in then he went to the vehicle that brought her to the residence.
Their two children were in the vehicle.
"Mr. Dralle attempted to remove a 19-year- old pregnant female from the driver's seat of the vehicle," Sheriff Branham added. "When he could not get her out of the driver seat, it was reported that he hit the [woman] in the stomach."
The victim's husband then struck Dralle and held him down for a short time until he calmed down.
Police arrived a short time later and Dralle was arrested for battery with bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a Level 5 felony.
The Department of Child Services was contacted due to the presence of the children at during the altercation.
Sheriff Branham would like to thank the Mitchell Police Department for their assistance.
