(STATEHOUSE) - State Rep. Chris May (R-Bedford) was recently selected to serve on the Interim Study Committee on Courts and the Judiciary and the Military Base Planning Council.
He said these summer study committees will examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and recommend potential legislation.
"Our area is home to the Crane military base, which is the third largest U.S. naval base, employing nearly 6,000 people from across the state," May said. "The Military Base Planning Council will work to maintain and expand Indiana military installations like this one, while the Interim Study Committee on Courts and the Judiciary will look at a variety of topics that include court jurisdiction and civil forfeiture laws."
May said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. The site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify.
