(OOLITIC) - Three people were arrested after Lawrence County police were called about a man passed out in a vehicle in a parking lot across from the 172 block of Lafayette Avenue in Oolitic on Wednesday afternoon.
When police, an AMR ambulance, and Oolitic Volunteer Fire Department first responders arrived at 4:03 p.m. they found 27-year-old Nicholas Street of Mitchell in the vehicle.
Lawrence County Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults says Street was awake, but would not answer questions asked by ambulance personnel, who were trying to assist him.
"During this, the ambulance personnel observed a pipe associated with drug use and a crystal substance inside the vehicle and subsequently reported this to the responding officers," Chief Deputy Shoults says.
Street was cleared by medical professionals and arrested.
Police also located a crystal substance in his shirt pocket. That substance, 1.18 grams, field tested positive for meth.
Street was arrested on charges of possession of meth over 1 gram, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
When officers arrived on scene they observed another vehicle leaving the parking lot. Police say the driver, 25-year-old Tylan Davis and his passenger 36-year-old Leah Tincher, both of Bedford were wanted on outstanding warrants.
An officer stopped the vehicle and witnessed Tincher throw something into the back seat of the vehicle.
"Both were arrested on the warrants and during an inventory of the vehicle officers located baggies containing a crystal substance that tested positive for meth and had a total weight of 3.8 grams," Chief Deputy Shoults added. The baggies were packaged for individual sale."
In Tinchers purse officers found Rizatripton Benzoate pills which she did not have a prescription for.
Davis was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and maintaining a common nuisance.
Tincher was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear and visiting a common nuisance.
Both were arrested on additional charges of conspiracy to deal meth and possession of meth.
