According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, the pursuit began after a Bedford police officer attempted to stop Flick's vehicle Saturday at 10th Street and Lincoln Avenue.
"The officer saw Mr. Flick driving and knew he had a suspended driver's license," Chief Parsley says. "When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, Mr. Flick sped off at a high-rate of speed."

"At that time one of the officers in the pursuit stopped to attend to Miss. Wright, while another officer continued after Mr. Flick," Chief Parsley added. "The officer directly behind Mr. Flick's vehicles swerved to miss striking the female and that is when Wright swerved and struck the police vehicle in an attempt to run the police vehicle off the roadway.
The pursuit ended with Flick stopping his vehicle near the entrance of Brook Knoll.
"Officers were able to apprehend Mr. Flick, who continued to be combative and had to be physically restrained, " Chief Parsley added.
