(WASHINGTON) - A Washington man was arrested after police recovered a stolen firearm Sunday morning.
Police arrested 27-year-old Drake Latham after he took off running when officers spotted him in the area of Main Street.
He was caught near Pine Apartments after a short foot pursuit.
Washington Police found the weapon over a fence in the yard where Latham was arrested. Police say the weapon was stolen in June.
Officers also found Latham with a syringe, plastic baggies, a digital scale, and a box of 9MM ammunition.
Police say Latham was recently released on parole from the Indiana Department of Corrections for narcotics and firearms related charges.
He is now facing charges of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, resisting law enforcement, unlawful possession of syringe, and obliterating identification marks on a handgun or possessing of such a handgun.
