(BEDFORD) - Bedford Police Officer Clint Swanson was honored for saving a woman who was not breathing.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, Officer Swanson was called to a home of an apparent drug overdose. When he arrived he found the woman not breathing and with no pulse.
Swanson immediately began performing CPR.
Chief Parsley says because of Officer Swanson's actions the woman was revived and transported to IU Health Hospital where she was given a dose of Narcan used to reverse the effects of the drug overdose.
Chief Parsley presented Officer Swanson with the Lifesaving Award from the American Police Hall of Fame during the Bedford Board of Works meeting on Monday.
