(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police arrested a man after they found him intoxicated with a handgun sitting in a truck with flat tires in a church parking lot on Thursday afternoon.
Police arrested 59-year-old Dennis G. Leimer on charges of driving while intoxicated endangerment, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police were called to Sherwood Oaks Christian Church Bloomington East on East Rogers Road at 2 p.m. after a report of a suspicious man in the parking lot.
When police arrived they found Leimer sitting in a pickup parked on the south side of the church. Police say Leimer was intoxicated. Police also note that he had a handgun in a holster on the seat next to him and feared he was going to harm himself.
Police arrested Leimer without incident. According to police Leimer's blood-alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
