(DAVIESS CO.) - A man was sentenced in Daviess County after pleading guilty to rape in May.
31-year-old Joseph Tyler Brown received a nearly 10 year sentence from Superior Court Judge Dean Sobecki. Brown was given credit for 360 days already served.
Brown will finish out his sentence in community corrections, register as a sexual violent predator, pay court costs and have no contact with the victim.
The crime stems from an incident which occurred about a year ago.
According to Washington Police, Brown was arrested after he allegedly raped a woman at his home at 510 Northeast First Street last August. When police arrived they found a woman who claimed she had been raped.
The woman was taken to Daviess Community Hospital for an examination.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Brown told police that he did have sex with the woman, but that it was consensual. But police say Brown had multiple scratches and wounds on his face and stomach.
