(BEDFORD) - Bedford Police were called to the Rosemount Motel after a woman dialed 911 saying she was injured and being held against her will.
Police responded to the motel in the 1900 block of M Street at 6 a.m.
"When officers arrived they could hear a woman crying and screaming inside the room," Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley says. "No one would answer the door. Officers obtained a pass key and entered the room."
Once inside they found a woman with facial injuries.
"She had injuries to her eye and lip and was hard to understand because she was bleeding from her mouth," Chief Parsley added.
The woman told police 41-year-old Larry Bundy had punched her in the face and dragged her off the bed by her hair onto the floor.
Once on the floor, the woman says Bundy kicked her in the face and stomach.
"He then attempted to strangle her by placing both hands around her neck and then placed a pillow of her face in an attempt to suffocate her," Chief Parsley added. "The woman was able to get away from Mr. Bundy and run into the bathroom where she called 911."
The woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Bundy was arrested on charges of strangulation and domestic battery.
