(BEDFORD) - Every year, Regions Bank partners with Riley Children’s Hospital to raise funds to help support all the wonderful work that they do for Indiana communities.
Most of us know someone that has been touched by the amazing things that Riley does for us and our families.
"A lot of us here at Regions have brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and even grandchildren that have been saved by the work that Riley does and we imagine you do too," says Bank Manager Kary Cobb. "This year we have decorated the branch in a Circus theme and our team is so proud of our display. Everyone is welcome to come and see the display, even if you don't bank with us."
This year bank officials had the pleasure to meet a 13-year-old girl that has experienced 2 brain tumors. She was misdiagnosed for several months and endured severe headaches and vision disturbances. Riley saved her life and she is so thankful for all the care she has received from Riley.
The girl shared her story of the amazing treatment she received.
"They play games and visit them often so the hospital doesn't seem so boring," she says.
This young lady shared how she lost her hair as a teenage girl and all she wanted was to feel better. This young lady showed incredible strength and a wonderfully positive attitude in sharing her story. She is only ONE reason that Regions Bank joined forces to help.
A few years ago Riley was able to build a pediatric unit. This unit is already ranked among top hospitals in the nation in
10 categories for specialized healthcare for children. This helps to save the lives of many babies that are born to
complicated pregnancies. Before completion of the Pediatric unit, babies had to be transported from other area
hospitals for treatment at Riley. Now these mothers can delivery directly at Riley which results in a higher success rate in life saving treatment for these babies.
Riley Hospital operates mainly on the donations of Indiana residents and they continue to need our help today.
"Many of you are probably aware that there isn't enough money contributed for childhood cancer research," Cobb says. "By supporting Riley, we are saying that we still have hope for all children illnesses, including cancer. If you have never visited Riley Children's Hospital, I pray that you never have to for the purpose of a child needing care. If you do, you will appreciate it beyond belief. This facility is amazing and touches so many lives, regardless of ability to pay. I will tell you that Riley Hospital for Children is a wonderful and warm place. The things that they have in the hospital had me in amazement during my tour as part of the Regions Committee."
Cobb is asking the community to join Regions Bank in supporting Riley this year by dropping off your donation at our main branch or our drive-thru locations.
"100 percent of our fundraising efforts go directly to Riley Children's Hospital," Cobb added. "A person does not have to bank with Regions to support Riley, but we will still put their name on the wall if they so choose."
You can also mail in donations to our Main Branch located at 1501 J Street, Bedford, IN 47421. Please make sure to include a note that states for Riley Children's Hospital and return mailing address if a receipt is requested. Donations are tax deductible and donors will be provided with a receipt. All businesses that donate $100 will be placed on the bank's Riley Wall of Fame located inside the branch.
"Thank you in advance for your support! We appreciate your involvement and Riley for all they do," Cobb says. "I also want to encourage everyone to participate in the IU Dance Marathon this year. Even if you don't dance, attending will warm your heart. It is such a great event and it has grown to other campuses in Indiana. Indiana communities are amazing and continue to do great things for Riley Kids."
