(BEDFORD) - A Pekin teen was injured after the vehicle he was in rolled on Old Buddha Road on Monday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 18-year-old Jacob Wheeler was knocked unconscious and suffered a knee injury.
Wheeler was a passenger in a 2000 Dodge Ram driven by 18-year-old Keyga Matheny of Bedford.
Police say Matheny was traveling north on Old Buddha Road, south of Pinhook Road, when the truck ran off the west side of the road and struck an embankment.
The truck then rolled onto the passenger side.
Police say both Wheeler and Matheny fled the scene.
Police learned that Matheny had borrowed the truck from another male and later told the owner of the truck that he had struck a deer that ran into the roadway.
Matheny was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and operating a vehicle while never licensed.
