(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police arrested two Indianapolis men after they attempted to pass $100 counterfeit bills.
Police arrested 18-year-old Kalen Harden and 29-year-old Quentin Oliver on charges of theft and counterfeiting. Harden was also wanted on a warrant for counterfeiting in Marion County.
According to Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams, Harden used a fake $100 bill to purchase two meals for $18 at Noodle and Company and another $100 bill to buy guitar gear at Vance Music Center. Counterfeit money was also used at Cafe Pizzaria, PopKorn Kernels and the Twist on Kirkwood Avenue.
Oliver attempted to use the fake money to purchase beverages at CVS.
During a search of Harden's Ford Expedition police found an envelope containing 12 counterfeit bills. Harden told police he had bought the money from a person in Indianapolis. Captain Kellams says they shared that information with the Secret Service.
The two men were in Bloomington, because just hours before their arrest Oliver appeared in Monroe County Circuit Court for a hearing on a pending counterfeiting case from 2016. He told police Harden had offered to bring him to Bloomington for the hearing.
