(HELTONVILLE) - A 14-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday night after he wrapped a cord around a family member’s neck and threatened to kill her.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were requested to assist Lawrence County on the domestic dispute call just before 7 p.m. because Lawrence County officers were tied up on other calls.
When police arrived the victim told police she and the boy had gotten into a domestic fight after she refused to allow him to go on a camping trip.
"He then began damaging the inside of the home," Chief Parsley says. "He shot the television with a BB gun and then grabbed the TV, wrapped the cord around the victim's neck and said 'maybe I should kill you with this'. He also hit the victim with in the head with the TV."
The boy was found outside of the home and arrested on a felony charge of strangulation, battery, criminal mischief and other juvenile status offenses and transported to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center.
